The Family patronymic is held by a relatively small group - so the chances are you may be related! At least if you
go back 6 or 7 generations.
The name "Poole" is believed to have originated in SW England - though the truth
is no one knows. There is the town of Poole on the coast of the county of Doset in S.W. England. That may or may
not be a clue. Since early names followed place-names it may be that "Pool" or "Poole was a family name given to any family
that lived by a well-known pool or pond. But then why is "Pond" not as equally commonplace a surname?
Family
history buffs (not us!) are welcome to provide any more information on the family moniker. If we find it interesting we may
publish it here.
